Discovering Switzerland🇨🇭

Ever heard someone say “I’m Switzerland!”? They were referring to the stance of peace Switzerland always maintains in foreign policy. Switzerland meets up to this expectation not only in their relations, but also in their way of life. One of the most peaceful experiences of my life happened in the subject of this blog— Switzerland! The beauty of Switzerland is unmatched, with the Swiss Alps drawing tourists to ski and relax in the beautiful landscape. Switzerland is famous for its delicious Swiss chocolate, cheese, and high quality of life! I had the pleasure of visiting Switzerland earlier this year, and visited Interlaken and Zermatt, famous ski towns in the Alps. One of the best experiences we had there was paragliding in Interlaken. Interlaken is a small town in between 2 lakes, and the stunning views were unbeatable! This blog will be highlighting my best experiences in Switzerland, giving you all the must-sees and must-dos!

Between Lakes

Interlaken is a picturesque town situated between Lake Brienz and Lake Thun in the Bernese Oberland region. The name Interlaken, means between lakes! It is known to be the home base for hikers, skiers, and thrill seekers. People come from all over the world to enjoy the many excursions that the surrounding areas bring, and it was no different for us! All 5 of us (my family) dared each other to go paragliding. It was nerve wracking, scary, and exciting all at once! The company we used was very knowledgeable and reassuring, explaining the entire process and making sure we knew what was going to happen. We rode a van up into the mountains to the top. It was a surreal experience, with the Alps and lakes surrounding us while we made the descent down to the center of the town. It might seem a little scary and daunting, but I truly recommend everyone do it!

Home of the Matterhorn

After Interlaken, we decided to hop on a scenic train to the famous town of Zermatt, known for its breathtaking views and the iconic Matterhorn mountain. The Matterhorn is not only famous in the climbing and skiing worlds but also holds a special place for Disney fans. Fun fact — it was actually the inspiration behind Disney’s Everest ride! Being the huge Disney Park fans that we are, we couldn’t miss the chance to see the real-life version of one of our favorite ride’s inspirations.

When we arrived, Zermatt felt like a true winter wonderland, with people in full ski gear walking along quaint streets surrounded by cozy shops and warm cafes. Our visit to Zermatt happened to fall on February 14th, which made the day even more special because it’s my dad’s birthday! As a treat for both of our parents, my siblings and I gifted them a massage at one of the local spas to relax and enjoy the serene mountain atmosphere. The rest of the day was spent exploring, sampling delicious Swiss cuisine, and indulging in rich Swiss chocolate. The charm of Zermatt is in its peaceful atmosphere and the blend of adventure and coziness it offers—there’s so much to see, try, and experience in this small yet lively ski town.

Back to my Roots

Fun fact: I worked at Lindt Chocolate Shop in Nashville, TN for over 3 years. And guess what? Lindt is a Swiss company! Everyone knows that Switzerland is famous for its chocolate and cheese, and getting to go to a store in Switzerland was an amazing (and delicious) experience!

Although the trip we short, we had a blast in Switzerland. We were happy that we made the decision to skip the big cities and go to the small towns! You feel like you’re in a winter wonderland when you go. Switzerland is a place to stroll around, drink a coffee, and shop your heart out. Eat lots of chocolate and cheese!

These was my winter wonderland trip highlights in Switzerland! Thank you all for reading!
